Parents’/Kids’ Night Out, President’ Day, Hanabi In-Class Tournament and More!
Parents’ Night Out
Saturday, February 8 from 6:00 to 9:30 pm will be our next Parents’/Kids’ Night Out at Hanabi. Come eat popcorn and pizza, watch movies and play games with your friends and with our wonderful Hanabi Sempais and Senseis. The movie will be Toy Story. Cost: $40 with $5 for pizza (optional). Please RSVP by 5 PM on Friday, February 7th.
On Sunday, January 26, over 20 Hanabi students competed in Concord at the CYC Developmental Tournament and our group did wonderfully! Several students, such as Lucas and Kaia, competed in their first competition away from home: they took home medals! And other young players, like Wolfgang and Katarina, who are just 6, came home with first place trophies! All of our competitors were: Zander and Kaia who got 3rd; Mette, Hiroshi, Ren, Kohki, Shuhan and Ulysses who got 2nd; while Kobe, Wolfgang, Chelsea, Kai, Raangszen, Taiyo, Keiden, Theo and Katarina all got 1st. Congratulations to all! And see our video below.
Hanabi will be closed on February 17 for President’s Day.
Monthly In-Class Shiai and Pot Luck
February 21 will be our monthly in-class shiai (tournament). The Hajime and Chibi students will be doing their sumo competition at 5:30 followed by the Honto students doing their judo competition at 6:30. After the shiai we will celebrate with a Pot-Luck. Bring your favorite dish to share. Our monthly tournaments are always fun but when we follow it with a pot luck it should be a real party. Everyone is welcome!
Palo Alto Tournament and Weigh In at Hanabi
February 23 will be Palo Alto Judo Club’s annual tournament and the Wednesday prior, February 19, Hanabi will be hosting the weigh in’s from 4:30 until 8:00 pm. All Hanabi Honto kids can attend this local tournament that has been around for over 60 years.
Hanabi’s PokeCamp Summer camps will be starting on June 9th and going through Aug 18th at our Albany Hanabi dojo, Piedmont Middle School and Albany’s Memorial Hall. Every week Pokemon-related activities - and judo - will keep our students laughing, smiling and sweating. A great combination. For more information please note the link below.
